Kidnapped Company MD rescued, N3m ransom recovered in Rivers

The Managing Director, Pedero Down Nigeria Limited, Otunba Femi Ogunleye, who was kidnapped by some gunmen at about 10.45 on May 3 has been rescued by the police in Rivers State.



He was rescued at about 6.30 pm on Tuesday, following a tip-off during investigation. The police were also said to have recovered the N3 million ransom paid to the kidnappers and shot dead one of the suspects.












DG gathered that a combined team of policemen from the command stormed the kidnappers’ hideout at Okujagu, Port Harcourt mangrove forest and engaged the bandits in a fierce shoot-out.

At the end of the exchange of gunfire, one of the suspects was killed, one wounded, while others escaped into the mangrove. Confirming the incident, the Rivers State Police Command’s spokesman, Ben Ugwuegbulam, disclosed that the Port-Harcourt based businessman had been rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

He explained that efforts were being intensified to arrest the fleeing members of the gang, adding that investigation was still going on.
