8 Bank Staff arrested over 8m robbery

Police operatives, yesterday arrested six senior staffers of an old generation bank and two security men attached to the bank for allegedly robbing the bank of N8 million. The suspects are currently facing interrogation  at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Lagos.

DG reliably gathered that over the weekend, some hoodlums raided the bank, destroying the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and carting away N8million. Detectives from SCID were invited and after careful observation, six staffers of the bank and two security men, who allegedly stayed back after work last weekend were arrested.

A police investigator said one of the suspects had allegedly owned up to the crime and implicated a senior manager of the bank as the mastermind of the robbery.

Lagos State police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide said the arrested bank staffers  and the security men were undergoing interrogation. She said the police would get to the root of the matter to arrest other gang members who were on the run.

She said over the weekend, the police at Ikotun received a report that some hoodlums destroyed the ATM in the bank and that after preliminary investigation, six staffers of the bank were arrested. “They are currently facing interrogation and no stone will be left unturned to arrest other members of the bank that were fingered in the robbery.” Braide decried the incessant insider connections to bank robberies in the state.
I wonder, if Bank staff starts stealing, who will be trusted with money?
